Short answer
Omni supplies bulk and bagged mulch on Long Island in black, brown, red and natural hardwood. One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep. Pick up at the yard or have it delivered.
Mulch is the fastest way to make a bed look finished, and the cheapest way to keep it healthy. A 2–3 inch layer holds soil moisture, blocks weed germination, moderates root temperature and breaks down into organic matter over the season.
We stock dyed black, dyed brown, dyed red and undyed natural hardwood. Dyed mulches hold color longer and read crisp against green plantings; natural hardwood weathers to a soft grey and is the usual pick for woodland and native beds.
Bulk is sold by the cubic yard and loaded into your truck or trailer at the yard. Bagged mulch is right for small refresh jobs and anywhere a truck can't reach.

Frequently asked
- How much mulch do I need?
- Multiply length by width in feet, multiply by depth in inches, then divide by 324. That gives cubic yards. A 500 sq ft bed at 3 inches deep needs about 4.6 cubic yards.
- Is bulk mulch cheaper than bagged?
- Yes. Past roughly 8–10 bags, bulk is almost always less expensive per cubic foot and far less plastic to haul away.
- How deep should mulch be?
- Two to three inches. Deeper than four inches suffocates roots and encourages fungus; never pile mulch against a trunk.
